A Weekend Getaway

Over MLK weekend, Matt and I were able to get away with our class to Ellijay for a marriage retreat. The whole class was going to meet up late Friday night, but Matt took off work Friday and we headed up early. First we headed over to Amicalola Falls to enjoy a nice steep hike.

On the way up, Matt decided to run up and sit in a shallow cave with a frozen entrance.

What a view

We would stop for breaks and get a drink of water...

After spending time over at the falls, we went over to check out our AMAZING cabin, "A River Runs Through it". It was so awesome. Inside, the cabin was lodge style with hardwoods and rustic decor. And the best part was the small creek that ran under our cabin. You could see both sides from the front and back porches in the living room.

About 100 yards behind the cabin was a small waterfall.
A few hours later the rest of the group joined us for dinner. Then we all headed back to the cabin where we enjoyed a weekend of studying God's word, and listening to sermons focused on strengthening our marriages. We also played games, ate great food, relaxed, and got to know each other better.
The whole group...
Needs some help!
This group was so much fun to be around. I really enjoyed getting to know each couple and person a little better than before. I think we are all in agreement that this needs to be a yearly event.
Now, Sunday afternoon was the end of the group retreat, but on the way home, Matt told me we were headed to one more place. I was totally caught off guard when he pulled up to the Aska Bed and Breakfast. There we spent one more night together relaxing with no children. My husband gets bonus points for being so romantic.
